My favorite city parks in Colorado Springs is the Garden of the Gods. I have spent many years wondering around the 15 miles of hiking trails and enjoying the beauty. The Garden of the Gods has the most spectacular views of Pikes Peak. From the Avenue Hotel Bed and Breakfast in Manitou Spring, the entrance into the park on Garden Dr., driving thru balanced Rock and Steamboat Rock, is only a mile away. This website Garden of the Gods. has the best photos of each rock formations with the names as you gaze at the Lyon Sandstone formation shooting 300 feet in the air. This is great for your phone while in the park to identify the rock formations. The visitors center, located at the part entrance, is worth a stop to see the media presentation that has good information on the history of the park and how the rocks were formed, trail maps and a great little cafe. The visitor center also has a terrace overlooking the park, a great place to enjoy a bite to eat.
