"Inn the Kitchen Three" is a collection of recipes from participating Bed and Breakfasts of the Pikes Peak Area (BBPPA). Thirteen Inns contributed a combined total of 147 recipes providing a variety of different cuisines from German to Mexican breakfast to main meals. The cookbooks are sold in the individual bed and breakfasts as well as some of the local shops in Manitou Springs.
This is the first cookbook I, as an innkeeper, have organized and sent off for publication. I had to spend many hours proof reading each recipe from the different Bed and Breakfasts of the Pikes Peak Area. All the ingredients had to be in order as they appear in the recipe, all the ingredients have to be in the same format; no "water" is not capitalized nor is" eggs" or "salt" or" butter".
Kraft Velveta is capitalized. The measurements must have all the same abbreviations. c.= cup, tsp.= teaspoons, lb.= pound. The recipe must state cooking time, temperature and how many guests it serves.
On this past Monday morning the cookbooks arrive at my historic Manitou Springs bed and breakfast. The FedEX man hauled 24 cases of cookbooks, each with 24 books from Manitou Avenue up all 35 steps to my front entry. Stack after stack of brown cardboard boxes staring at me. Of course, each Inn was to get a box of 20 cookbooks thus I had to then open 13 boxes and remove 4 books from each box. Now I have 24 cases of cookbooks, a collection of recipes from participating Bed & Breakfasts of the Pikes Peak Area, and a pile of 52 books without boxes. I then make 12 phone call, (I did not think I needed to call myself) asking each Innkeeper to please come ASAP an pick up their box of cookbooks as I looked out on the huge snowflakes dropping from the sky and sticking to the roads. The cookbooks of the BBPPA would not be vacating my entry any time soon.
I know you have done the math, hmmm, 20 cookbooks for 13 Inn does not equal 24 cases of 24 books, we have ordered 228 extra cookbooks for future sales. I am the keeper of the cookbooks, a collection of recipes from participating Bed & Breakfasts of the Pikes Peak Area, and now must find storage for 9 1/2 cases, 228 extra cookbooks.
I have included 1o of my favorite recipes here are some of my recipes you can expect to see in the BBPPA cookbook, Country Breakfast Cobbler, my Raspberry Cheese Spread, Sloppy Joe's, Cinnamon Carrot Bread, and Old Fashion Sour Cream Muffins.
Please contact me if you would like to purchase one of these fantastic cookbooks. I know, I have read the whole cookbook. 719-685-1277 or info@avenuehotelbandb.com. $12.00

Pikes Peak Cog Railway
Pikes Peak Cog Railway
Featured Attraction:
PIKES PEAK COG RAILWAY

There is a wealth of activity to do in the Pikes Peak Region. One of the most popular attractions is the Pikes Peak Cog Railway.
Pikes Peak is one of Colorado's most famous mountains, where the song "America the Beautiful", was inspired from. Pikes Peak is at an elevation of 14,110 feet and one of the most accessible mountain peaks in the state of Colorado.
The Manitou & Pikes Peak Railway Company was founded in 1889 and the first trains made their way to the top of Pikes Peak in 1891.
Discount coupons are offered only on select days and times.
Conventional railroads use the friction of wheels upon the rails, called "adhesion", to provide locomotive power. A cog, or rack, railroad uses a gear, "cog wheel", meshing into a special rack rail (mounted in the middle between the outer rails) to climb much steeper grades than those possible with a standard adhesion railroad. An adhesion railroad can only climb grades of 4 to 6%, with very short sections of up to 9%. A "rack" railroad can climb grades of up to 48%, depending upon the type of rack system employed. Some Swiss trains use a combination of "rack" and "adhesion". This enables the trains to reach much higher speeds on the adhesion sections (rack railroads can not go much faster than 25 miles per hour or they run the risk of dislodgement from the rack rail- M & PP Ry.'s top speed is about 9 MPH).
