Randy and I have taken our vacation and are in Sydney AU visiting family. The trip from our Manitou Springs bed and breakfast was just over 22 hours. We had a delay in LA and had to bussed to a remote area to get on our plane. We then left LA and went non-stop to Sydney. That is a long and difficult flight some 15 hours.
After arriving we headed to the beach at Cornulla . Sunshine and sandy beach, nice waves and lots of folks enjoying their summer vacation. We moved into the 2ND oldest National Park in the world , the Royal National park and enjoyed a picnic lunch. The evening was spent over nice cold beer and feeding an array of lovely birds. Cockatoos, that are considered an announce and destructive and were allowed to feed just for our pleasure. Just beautiful. Crimson Rosella flew in. The favorite of the evening was to Kookaburra.
We will spend several days this week in Sydney. We plan to walk the Sydney Harbour Bridge. This week is the Sydney Festival with different activities all around the city, we plan to see and enjoy as much as possible.

Happy New Year from our Colorado Bed and Breakfast
Randy and I are taking a break from the bed and breakfast and heading to Australia. This will be my first vacation away from the Inn in over a year. I am looking forward to warm weather and a bit of a get away for the two of us. We will be in Engadine just outside Sydney visiting Randy's sister Jan and her husband David. We will travel into some of the wine country, into some of the National Parks and onto the beaches. AHHHH Then back home all too quickly
Returning to our Colorado Bed and Breakfast rejuvenated and refreshed with plans for more updates to the Inn. Work will begin on the Ruxton Room bathroom. The old wallpaper will come down, which in turn creates walls that will need repair. A fresh coat of paint will be applied to the wood trim, doors and windows. Minced Onion is the color. New wallpaper will be hung with the finishing touches of new mirror, new sink and new floor. WaLa
The Avenue Hotel Bed and Breakfast has experienced major changes this past year with new carpet, paint and wallpaper in many of the common areas. The exterior paint is coming along however the unseasonable cold and snow postponed the completion until spring. Randy and I plan on continuing the improvements to this fabulous piece of property in Manitou Springs. Very rewarding, hard at times but worth it! We love being part of the history of the Avenue Hotel.
